Welcome! Tally ho!
Our B.V.I. Adventure is designed to give our family, friends and any other interested followers a look into the life of two expatriates making their way on the island of Tortola. Tortola is the largest island in the British Virgin Islands.
So, why did we move 2,000 miles away from our home in Knoxville, Tennessee? Michael accepted a position as the director of retail and international sales for a Caribbean clothing brand.
Cheers!

Are you "bless" too?
Who knew MacGyver a) lives in the BVI and b) drives a converted Mistubishi truck? Well, Adam found him driving in Road Town just yesterday!
Oh, and just so you know, MacGyver is "not lucky, he's bless."

I'm a lurker who you don't know, a wanna be islander living in the states. ;-) I don't know if there are other like me reading your blog but I'd love to know the story about how your husband landed a great island job. If you even care to share. Thanks and thanks for allowing me to "live" in the islands. **CSD
Thanks for reading! My husband was consulting for some retail companies in the states back in 2008 / 2009. A colleague named Bert, who was both a veteran of war and the retail industry, introduced Michael to Charles, the owner of Pusser's. The two started talking regularly about the retail side of the business and eventually, Charles invited us here to visit which is what led to the job offer. It's very difficult to find work here - I can assure you, this isn't something we were actively looking for, but we were open to it. I never thought I would be living here! The BVI protects its workforce, so finding work as an expat can be very challenging. Since you are from the states, you might have better luck finding a job in the USVI, St. Thomas, St. John etc... Hope this helps! Again, thanks for reading!
Thanks Amelia, I know about the difficulties of getting work in the islands, even the USVI. My hopes are to move when I don't or won't need a job. For now it'll be vacations. Thanks again!
