Welcome! Tally ho!

Our B.V.I. Adventure is designed to give our family, friends and any other interested followers a look into the life of two expatriates making their way on the island of Tortola. Tortola is the largest island in the British Virgin Islands.

So, why did we move 2,000 miles away from our home in Knoxville, Tennessee? Michael accepted a position as the director of retail and international sales for a Caribbean clothing brand.

Cheers!

Day 80: Can you take me high enough?

If you're now humming the Damn Yankees song from the early 90's, my apologies.  It's most definitely stuck in my head!  Well, on Wednesday Travis and I went "high enough" to the highest point in all of the BVIs...on top of Sage Mountain: elevation 1,716 feet.

We took the North trail to the fig tree, which marks the boundary of the trail.

It's approximately a mile to the fig tree and a mile back.  For our return, we took the center trail to the highest point in the BVI.  Check out this photo that Travis took from one of the look-outs:

It was really beautiful up there and almost chilly when you weren't protected by the trees and brush.  We only saw two snakes - well, I saw one and Travis saw another, but after my loud scream at the sight of the first one, he decided to keep the second sighting to himself.  Ha!

The Damn Yankees may say that "yesterday is just a memory," but I have a feeling my muscles are going to more than remember this hike...
