Welcome! Tally ho!
Our B.V.I. Adventure is designed to give our family, friends and any other interested followers a look into the life of two expatriates making their way on the island of Tortola. Tortola is the largest island in the British Virgin Islands.
So, why did we move 2,000 miles away from our home in Knoxville, Tennessee? Michael accepted a position as the director of retail and international sales for a Caribbean clothing brand.
Cheers!

Day 152: Our 13th Trip to the Airport
In the 151 days that we've been living in the BVI, we've made 12 trips to the airport to pick up and then drop off our visitors. On day 152, we made a 13th trip, but this time was different...
WE were the ones with tickets in hand! Destination: Ft. Lauderdale. Here's the view from the airplane on our way out...that's Marina Cay, the island that Pusser's owns there in the bottom of the photo.
While this was a work trip for Michael, we were excited to get "back to the states," even if only for a weekend. Some of the things our "to-do" list were...
While this was a work trip for Michael, we were excited to get "back to the states," even if only for a weekend. Some of the things our "to-do" list were...
- Eat Mexican food
- Shop at Target and Publix
- Enjoy living with A/C
- Go through a drive-thru
- Listening to country music on the radio
- Driving faster than 45 miles per hour
- Having static in my hair!
- Sleeping underneath a feather duvet (thank you Westin!)
- Eating an Auntie Anne's pretzel in the mall
- Waking up to the sound of an alarm clock (instead of the brightness of the sun)
- Needing a GPS to find our way
And the standard chips and salsa, plus queso! YUM!
While Michael headed for work, I hit the road, headed to the Ft. Lauderdale Galleria, where my friend Dana, who lives in nearby Jupiter, met me for a wonderful lunch at Seasons 52. We both brought our cameras, but neither remembered to grab a photo. Can you believe it? We were having such a great time catching up, we forgot! {Anyway, thanks for coming down Dana!!! It was wonderful to see you!}
I have to recommend Sawgrass Mills to any of my Florida friends who are looking for an all-day shopping experience. Whew! It was a LOT to cover in a pair of Rainbow flip flops, but totally worth it!
Our final stop before heading home was that drive-thru, I mentioned. This was the highlight of our day! Ha!
It was a quick trip, and while we loved every minute of it, we were happy to get home and be reunited with little Milly. Our neighbor, Judy, was so great to take care of her while we were away.
